Comments:
This is an iconic, large Flat-top set by Sheaffer.  The pen shows little evidence of use, with no brassing anywhere, not even on the clip ball.  Deep, sharp imprints.  Large white dot on the cap top indicating Sheaffer's Lifetime warranty.  The pencil functions properly and has just a bit of brassing on the clip ball.  The pencil derby has no dents or uneveness as is usually found.  The Radite is lightly and evenly mildly ambered on both pen and pencil, far less than is usually found on black and pearl pieces.  This impressive set will make a nice addition to your Sheaffer collection.

SHEAFFER OVERSIZE EARLY BALANCE  ca. 1930

Model:
Oversize (Senior) Balance ca. 1930 in gorgeous Jade Radite
Grade:
Excellent to Excellent +
Nib Width:
Very smooth medium, marked "Sheaffer's Lifetime Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. Made in U.S.A. 1403616."
Length Capped:
5 3/4" This is the longest and biggest of the Sheaffer Balances, made only a year or two until it was shortened.

Comments:

Early Jade celluloid was very prone to discoloration due to the chemical reaction of the rubber sac and ink on the plastic.  It is hard to find perfect color jade, but when one does they go for significant premium prices.  This pen's color is not perfect, but very close.  Just a bit of darkening on the cap between the band and vent holes.  Our picture tends to exaggerate the discoloration.  No brassing on the cap clip ball, and just a small amount (5%) on the cap band. The pen shows little signs of use, with a sharp molten imprint, "W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co. Fort Madison, Iowa, U.S.A., Pat'd-Pat.Pending."  This imprint indicates that this pen is the earliest version of the Balance line, before the patent was actually approved.  A cool pen!

SHEAFFER LIFETIME TRIUMPH (93WH) WIDE BAND ca. 1942-1945

Model:
Sheaffer Lifetime Triumph model 93WH in Carmine celluloid
Grade:
Excellent to Excellent +
Nib Width:
Smooth fine two-tone Lifetime Triumph nib.
Length Capped:
5 3/16"

Comments:

Rebuilt plunger mechanism using Nishimora o-rings, etc. Just the tiniest amount of edge brassing on the sides of the clip ball.  Nib retains its platinim mask.  Pen works as originally designed, holding a huge amount of ink that can be seen in the very clear visulated barrel.  Typically the transparent portion of these barrels is ambered, caused by the ink permanently staining the barrel.  In this case, there is little of that, as the clear section shows little ambering.  This will make a great writer.

SHEAFFER "PFM III" ca. 1959

Model:
Sheaffer PFM III in the third hardest color to find - Green
Grade:
Excellent
Nib Width:
Smooth Fine 14K inlaid nib.
Length Capped:
5 5/16"
Comments:
This PFM III with gold-filled trim is a great writer, with a fine nib that is very smooth.  The pen is restored with a new O-ring and draws ink properly.  A few minor scratches prevent this from being graded Excellent + or Near Mint.  There is no brassing to any of the trim.  A classic pen that signaled the end of the golden age of fountain pens.
Price:
$255 SOLD

SHEAFFER SNORKEL 14K "AUTOGRAPH"  ca. 1955

Model:
Sheaffer Snorkel with hard to find 14K clip and cap band
Grade:
Excellent +
Nib Width:
Smooth Fine 14k two-tone inlaid nib.
Length Capped:
5 9/16"
Comments:
This Sheaffer Snorkel is the "Autograph" model.  Sheaffer, since the flat-top days, offered a high end pen with solid gold trim which could be personalized by reproducing the owner's handwritten name on the cap band.  Usually, when one finds one of these "Autograph" pens, they have been personalized.  This is the first Snorkel Autograph that we have come across, and believe they are quite scarce.  Both the clip and the cap band are marked 14K.  This will be a great addition to a Snorkel collection.

A very nice example of the classic Targa.  The pen has no dents or dings, as usually found in this model.  A nice patina which has been left intact, but could be polished out by the new owner.  Complete with converter.  A must for the Targa collector
