SHEAFFER OVERSIZE EARLY BALANCE ca. 1930
Model:
| Oversize (Senior) Balance ca. 1930 in gorgeous Jade Radite
| Grade:
| Excellent to Excellent +
| Nib Width:
| Very smooth medium, marked "Sheaffer's Lifetime Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. Made in U.S.A. 1403616." | Length Capped:
| 5 3/4" This is the longest and biggest of the Sheaffer Balances, made only a year or two until it was shortened. | Comments:
| Early Jade celluloid was very prone to discoloration due to the chemical reaction of the rubber sac and ink on the plastic. It is hard to find perfect color jade, but when one does they go for significant premium prices. This pen's color is not perfect, but very close. Just a bit of darkening on the cap between the band and vent holes. Our picture tends to exaggerate the discoloration. No brassing on the cap clip ball, and just a small amount (5%) on the cap band. The pen shows little signs of use, with a sharp molten imprint, "W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co. Fort Madison, Iowa, U.S.A., Pat'd-Pat.Pending." This imprint indicates that this pen is the earliest version of the Balance line, before the patent was actually approved. A cool pen! | Price:
| $275

| Rebuilt plunger mechanism using Nishimora o-rings, etc. 15% cap band brassing, and edges of clip ball also brassed. Nib retains its platinim mask. Pen works as originally designed, holding a huge amount of ink that can be seen in the visulated barrel. This is a great writer!

SHEAFFER LIFETIME TRIUMPH (93WH) WIDE BAND ca. 1942-1945

Model:
| Sheaffer Lifetime Triumph model 93WH in Carmine celluloid
| Grade:
| Excellent to Excellent +
| Nib Width:
| Smooth fine two-tone Lifetime Triumph nib.
| Length Capped:
| 5 3/16"
| Comments:
| Rebuilt plunger mechanism using Nishimora o-rings, etc. Just the tiniest amount of edge brassing on the sides of the clip ball. Nib retains its platinim mask. Pen works as originally designed, holding a huge amount of ink that can be seen in the very clear visulated barrel. Typically the transparent portion of these barrels is ambered, caused by the ink permanently staining the barrel. In this case, there is little of that, as the clear sections show little ambering. This will make a great writer.
| Price:
| $120

SHEAFFER LIFETIME CREST ca. 1942-1945
Model:
| Sheaffer Lifetime "Empire" Crest with Triumph style nib. | Grade:
| Excellent to Excellent +
| Nib Width:
| Smooth fine two-tone Lifetime Triumph nib.
| Length Capped:
| 5 3/8"
| Comments:
| Sheaffer placed its white dot, signifying its Lifetime warranty on the bottom of the blind cap as they had not yet figured how to attach it to the metal cap. This was Sheaffer's answer to the Parker 51. We feel that its a more than worthy competitor and is a greatly under-rated pen. | Price:
| $130

SHEAFFER TRIUMPH "CREST" 14K MASTERPIECE ca. 1944

Model:
| Triumph Crest 14k Capped Masterpiece ca. 1944
| Grade:
| Excellent
| Nib Width:
| Smooth Fine 14k Triumph Lifetime
| Length Capped:
| 5 7/16"
| Comments:
| A hard to find model with a fabulous cap design in 14k gold. Pen would rate Excellent plus but for a very tiny ding in the very top of the cap. Strong deep imprint. Cap is professionally engraved " J.S. Schrade Sheriff's Rangers 1944." White dot is on barrel bottom, as Sheaffer had not yet figured how to adhere the dots to metal caps. With the price of gold well over $1,000, the cap on this pen must be worth at least $100 in scrap value, alone. Of course we would never encourage anyone to scrap vintage pen parts made of gold. | Price:
| $225

SHEAFFER "PFM III" ca. 1959
Model:
| Sheaffer PFM III in the second hardest color to find - Blue
| Grade:
| Excellent
| Nib Width:
| Smooth Fine 14K inlaid nib.
| Length Capped:
| 5 7/8"
| Comments:
| This PFM III with gold-filled trim is a great writer, with a fine nib that is very smooth. The pen is restored with a new O-ring and draws ink properly. A few minor scratches prevent this from being graded Excellent + or Near Mint. There is no brassing to any of the trim. A classic pen that signaled the end of the golden age of fountain pens. | Price:
| $255

SHEAFFER PFM I SET BURGUNDY NOS ca. 1959
Model:
| Sheaffer PFM I set in Burgundy
| Grade:
| Near Mint
| Nib Width:
| Smooth Fine Palladium inlaid nib.
| Length Capped:
| 5 7/8"
| Comments:
| This PFM I set with chrome trim is probably new old stock. There was a bit of residue on the tip, so the pen may have been dipped. The pen was tested with water and all seals are intact and it took up the appropriate amount of liquid. The pencil does not appear to have been used, as the eraser shows no wear. The pen and pencil show a minimum amount of drawer wear and the chalk marks are almost completely intact. Finding a set in this condition does not come along very often. | Price:
| $200
